The Sneetches are reading Winnie Whistlebritches. We found the sentence:
"Week after week, Winnie rode down from the hills, whistling and whooping in a wild, caterwauling way."
This sentence sounds great because it has alliteration. Alliteration is where words start with the same sentence.
We had to use a dictionary to help us find the meaning of caterwauling. We dropped the -ing to look in the dictionary so we looked up caterwaul. It means to scream like a cat.
We have two new words to use in our writing. Caterwaul and authentic!
